St. Patrick is reputed to have driven the snakes out of Ireland. If you want to observe St. Patrick’s Day today while also clutter-busting, all you need to do is pretend that St. Patrick drove the clutter out of Ireland. Then you can follow his example in your own home as a way of observing his holiday.
If this seems gimmicky, consider that the original legend about the snakes is a gimmick too. There never were snakes in Ireland; there is no written or skeletal record of them. The story, most likely, was made up centuries later to illustrate the distinctive qualities of Ireland and Patrick. If a similar narrative about clutter helps you improve the condition of your house today, that, in my opinion, makes it an equally valid story.
